Chubb Offers a Global Business Travel Accident Policy

WARREN, NJ, September 12, 2007 - The Chubb Group of Insurance Companies is now offering BTA 360, a new business travel accident insurance program to help companies ensure the wellbeing of employees traveling on business, whether domestically or abroad.

"Globalization has resulted in increased international business travel, leading to a host of new exposures for employees," said James Hamilton, senior vice president, Chubb & Son, and North American manager for Chubb Accident & Health. "To help protect their employees, international companies need to implement a business travel accident program with global capabilities."

Although specific coverages for an insured's traveling employees depend on the state in which a policy is issued, BTA 360 may include:

  • Up to $500,000 for evacuation expenses when  a U.S. employee entered a country prior to the U.S. State Department issuing a travel warning for that country;
  • Up to $500,000 for the emergency treatment and transportation of a seriously injured or ill U.S. employee to an appropriate medical facility; and
  • Up to $250,000 for the costs of a ransom demand, hostage negotiation and other expenses when an employee is kidnapped.

BTA 360 can also include reimbursement for lost baggage, items damaged in checked baggage and the emergency purchase of essential items for travelers whose bags have been delayed. Identity Travel Assistance 911, a complimentary identity theft mitigation service, may be included as well. The identity theft service helps employees recover or recreate personal identification documents that have been lost or stolen during business travel. BTA 360 is being rolled out nationally and is already available to employers in 33 states.
